Occupation: orchardist
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 2 From Steve: The last decade has brought BJ and I the joys of new families and grandchildren! They are a great institution, and I’m a little disappointed that there is not a space on the website to post pictures of them – lots of pictures of them.
Another of the more adventurous and satisfying activities has been our involvement in short-term medical/dental/mission work in Haiti (not Tahiti). Our church sponsors schools and clinics in a couple of villages, one of which is so remote that we fly there in light planes. In February 2001 our classmate Gay Lange Scott went with us as a nurse and I’d like to share more about that later.
Our daughter, Ruth taught at West Valley for several years and now she lives in faraway Minot, ND with their three children. Her husband is a nuclear operations officer for the Air Force (yes, he’s the one with his finger on the button).
Son, Nathan lives in Seattle where he telecommutes, writing and editing newsletters and other publications for a company in Boston. He is starting on his masters program at the UW this fall in digital media journalism. His wife is a fundraiser for the Heart Association so they may be referred to as DINKs (double-income-no-kids).
I raise apples, pears, and cherries mostly in the Zillah area and while I am still planting trees I think more often these days about an exit strategy.
For fun we ply the waters of the Inside Passage and by next summer we hope to cruise near enough to Alaska to get rained on. |

Occupation: paraeducator
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 1 From Glenda: Time goes by too quickly. Guess I'd better quit procrastinating and get my bio into the website. It's been great reading about our classmates and corresponding with some of you. We'll be out of town celebrating our 37th anniversary this reunion weekend. Upon graduation I attended Business College. I married a wonderful guy from Iowa and we lived in Michigan and Omaha for a couple of years. A close call with an Iowa tornado was enough to make us come back to live in the great Northwest. That Midwest weather is for the birds! I worked as an office manager at a medical office until our daughter was born. I was fortunate to be able to be a stay-at-home mom for about 12 years, and I loved every minute of it. My Husband, Fran, worked over 20 years at Food Plant Engineering, and then that company closed he went to work at the Department of Transportation. He is also a freelance photographer. After years of volunteering at school, I was asked to help out and get paid to do it. Twenty years later I'm still helping kids with reading and I have the summers off. The grandkids come swim at "Grammy's" all summer long. We have one daughter, Emily Daley. She and her husband both graduated from WSU. He is a civil engineer and she is a teacher. She taught 3rd grade at Ahtanum School before having her 2nd child. We now have three grandkids and a "grand dog". Emily home schools her children, ages 4, 7 and 9. They do fantastic things at their school and she is an awesome teacher. She did sub a little at Garfield Elementary for Chris Wright before going to West Valley. I have a lot to be thankful for, especially for a happy family and all of the fun we have together. The grandkids keep us busy going to all of their activities and fun vacations. They really are "Grand"! I hope the reunion is lots of fun. Take care, Glenda |

Occupation: Medical
Recruiter/co-owner Website: www.medicaljobs.net Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 1 From KL: I am sorry to miss this re-union, been waiting for it and then the time and commitments took over. Look forward to seeing you at the "45" or the "50". After graduation and going to the UofW, I kicked around Yakima for a while until Mark Porden offered me an opportunity in optics. Then it was off to the Land of OZ-California. Working in LA first and then settling in the Bay Area. I remarried in the Bay Area to a wonderful lady that Mark Porden introduced me to: Carol and I just celebrated our 25th this year over in Rome. Leaving optics I entered into renovation and construction with a neighbor which I loved but the wear and tear finally got to me. While I was doing this, Carol became a medical recruiter and was extremely successful. We decided to open our own recruiting business in 1990, which is www.medicaljobs.net. Since then we moved us and our business to Chico, CA in 1995 where we enjoy the small college town and countryside. My daughter, Nicole, is 33 years old, married living in Phoenix, and has a career with Marriott. She and her husband, Jason, have two wonderful kids; Sara-5 and Kenny-2. Carol and I love being grandparents and spend as much time as we can in Phoenix spoiling and enjoying those grandkids. I have so much to be thankful for; wonderful wife, friend and business partner, daughter and son-in-law who have two fun grandkids. Most of time when not spent with the above is then split with art (photography, mono prints, and collage) and my mistress- 95 Honda VFR. I love riding the back roads of Northen California, NV and OR. Two years ago this month I completed an Iron Butt Ride of 1,000 miles in 20.5 hours Have fun this weekend! |

Occupation: Tarot Card Reader/
Numerology Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 4 From Linda: Dear Classmates: For the entire time we've been acquainted, I have been a good classmate, good friend, trusted colleague. After our graduation, I became a wife and mother, blue bird leader, DeMolay mother, merchant sales representative and commercial investment banker. I went to work for the Boeing Company in 1979, and after training and promotions through many departments, I retired as a Software Analyst in 1994. It was my dream to be my own boss, and with my first marriage behind me, and three step children grown, I had my youngest daughter by my side, learning the restaurant business. My second husband and I decided to open a small sandwich shop in Kent, Washington. The Espresso Depot was a success, and we sold the original sandwich shop, the adjacent coffee nook, and expanded into the gift business. Our business savvy afforded us to purchase our home and renovate an historic building into a group of small specialty shops in downtown Kent. Although I have enjoyed my years of experience and broadening opportunities, in 1989, I felt it was time for a change. I began to study paranormal activities and became fascinated with the metaphysical world. I soon found that I always had psychic intuition and mastered the art of the Tarot. I wanted to be involved with the industry, and though I remained in the restaurant business for a few more years, after losing both my dear friend and my Father, in 2005 I decided that there was no better place to be than in the peaceful Arizona Desert, and deciding there was no better time than the present to make this change, I moved to Arizona with my husband Andrew, leaving everyone and everything behind us. I believe my life has been fulfilling from one year to the next, full of family picnics, and week-end vacations, travelling to Hawaii, Jamaica, and the far reaches of Europe, my family album is filled with my adventures and with my children, and now grandchildren. This forty-year reunion gives me an opportunity to reflect on these years that house my fondest memories. From the West Valley orchards to the California sun, the thrills and spills of small business and a fast growing family tree, I am back in Washington where my daughter and her three children live and back at my own mother’s side in Kent. It is good to come back to our roots after wandering along our many paths, and though we are older and wiser, as changes will come we will always be the classmates of 1967. Sincerely, |

Marital Status: Divorced No. of Children: 1 From Tom: Hello everyone! Haven't seen most of you since the 10 year. So where did the last 30 years go, let alone the last 40? It blows my mind. Too much to write about for me : marriage, divorce, beautiful daughter, camping, hiking, 10 or 11 motorcycle trips to the southwest, receding hairline, receding gums, biopsies, arthritis - the usual stuff. P.S. Steve, thanks for the “Then” photo. |

Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 2 From Meg: Wow. What a surprise to hear from you. I looks like you found me after 30 years. First of all, let's clarify the name issue. I had my first name legally changed to Meg for mostly personal reasons ( with my mother's blessing). OK, I'll still answer to May. |

Occupation: Library Assistant
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 3 From Anita: The "lost" is "found"!! The news is out! I've been hiding in Ketchikan, Alaska for 35 of the last 40 years! My life in a nutshell--I married a man I met in college that was born here. We had three great kids, acquired a beautiful daughter-in-law and an ex-son-in-law. Our 4 grandchildren are the best and brightest--though I'm sure you all claim that for yours! We see them as often as possible, which is about twice a year. Eric and Rondi live in the Seattle area and Stacie and her family are in Idaho. Our youngest son, Chris, lives here, working to support his skating/snow-boarding habit! I graduated college with a degree in Home Ec and a teaching certificate, moved to Alaska and went to work as a meter maid--I remember meeting someone on the street from our class one day--but I'm not sure who--but if you were on a NOAA ship, it was probably you! Since we're on an island, and there is 1 high school and 1 middle school, Home Ec teaching jobs were scarce (non-existent now!). When an opening did come up, I applied, only to learn a few days later that I was expecting our first child...so I let that one go by. I've worked part time at Sears, in a pharmacy and now as a library assistant, where my primary duties are circulation and mending library materials. In my "spare" time (I thought there would be more of that when the kids left home!) I remain active in the music program of our church. George and I are envious of all you retired folk--hope to be that way ourselves in a few years--in time to be in driving distance of the 2012 reunion! Until then, when you take your Alaskan cruise, wave at Dennis as you go by and when you dock in Ketchikan, come by the museum and library and say Hi. Sorry we can't make this reunion. We had already purchased plane tickets for a November trip, but the rest of you have fun! And thanks Gay, Lyle and the rest of the committee for putting this together! I had told Gay that recent pictures are hard to come by, because usually I'm the one behind the camera. A family member took this. The baby is our youngest granddaughter Kylie Joy. She's 3 now. |

Marital Status: Married
No. of Children: 4 From June : Hi Everyone It is great to read all the bio's. So what have I been doing for 40 years.. Let's see.. After I graduated I worked several jobs. Pat Dart Moultray and I shared an apartment for a few years. Then I met my husband Ed Knobel on a garbage run. My folks belonged to a Jeep Club and one the services to the community was to pick up garbage in the hills. Ed was on that run and we spent the day in his jeep with a smelly deer head. One year after that romantic outing we were married. We have lasted 37 years! We have a son and daughter. I have 2 step daughters. Six Grandchildern and two great grandchildren. I made the choice to stay home with the kids until they started school, Then I became an arobic instructor for larger women. The fitness club franchised and I was quite involved in training other instructors, doing chorography and making 4 exercise videos. After 10 years my knees decided that they did not like that much exercise so I had to hang up my shoes. I took a year off then took a job working for Orthoedics Northwest. I now work in medical records have been there for 10 years and plan to retire in 3 years. My husband retired 5 years ago and is ready to travel. Between our 5th wheel and my KOI pond we keep pretty busy. It will be wonderful to see all of you. June |

Occupation: Self employed
Marital Status: Married No. of Children: 4 From Kathy: Greetings to all of you! What a great class we had. I mean HAVE! First a huge thank you to all who have put the reunion together and especially to Gay and Lyle for the work on this website and tracking down all the rest of us. And thank you to all of you who have submitted bios- I bet I have checked this website at least twice a day. I think I must have too much time on my hands. Steve, my husband of 35 years, and I still live on the south end of Whidbey Island. And we still own and operate our service business, Layman Services, Inc, both here on the Island and in Seattle and the Eastside. With our office in our home I have had the privilege of being a stay at home mom and, at the same time, helping run our business. Since the last reunion three of our children have graduated from college and our youngest is in his junior year at UW. Our two oldest sons are married and each have one child and are expecting another any time. We are very fortunate to have all of our kids living either here on the Island or in Seattle so we all get together quite often. Lots of fun and lots of laughter! I will have to say that as much pride as I take in serving our customers, my best loved roles in this life have been as wife, mom and "Grandma Kathy." Being grandma finally convinced me to stop trying to do it all myself and hire some office help and I am loving it. Life is good. I have done a little fishing, played a little golf and done even less kayaking but a fair bit of biking. My most ambitious ride was several years ago from Seattle to Spokane over the North Cascade highway. The drop down into Mazama was wonderful! Lately I have been spending weeknights knitting for the new babies and -I know this is lame- using Netflix to watch all the old Masterpiece Theatre series that I could never see all of when the kids were growing up! One more thing I must not forget to mention - my begonias won blue ribbons at the Island County Fair. Ok, ok, so maybe there weren't that many entries. My best to all of you. Have a wonderful reunion and if you find yourself on Whidbey please feel free to call and come by for a visit. My very kindest regards to all, Kathy Layman (Rutherford) |
