Reunion Thoughts Looking in the other direction, my kids have already been through their ten-year high school gathering, which for us was just three reunions ago Many of us are caring for our parents and others for our grandchildren (or both), and sharing the joys and the sufferings of our children. So, we are in that time of life when we look in both directions at those passages and the lives of those around us from new life to its end. It is a time of sharing what we have learned and still learning of what may lie ahead. From those all too brief conversations at the reunion I heard of those passages. Even from those who were hunting with your sons or caring for your parents at home I heard in your biographies pride in accomplishments, joys of family, hints of loneliness, stories of tragedy, as well as triumph over adversity, and experiences of lives being fully lived. I’ve read that the two most popular reunions are military units and high school classes and the reason is that they bring people back together who shared stressful and growing experiences in their lives. For many of us all have in common is close birthdays and four years of our youth but my, what years they were! From each other we learned of friendship and for many we learned much about love. Good times. I was glad to be at the reunion and happy to hear from all of you. From you I am learning that we still share these times; that we make these passages together as well as alone. As I reread what I had written in my bio I discover in it an implicit desire to present my self as a whole person, someone whose life is finally all put together as I thought it would surely be by now (this was when I was much younger.) It simply is not. Regrets over things I shouldn’t have said or done, unmet goals, and unfulfilled dreams are as much a part of my life as the accomplishments. But there is always hope. The desire to live again in our present circumstances, the striving for a new life amid the old, to continue to learn and grow, even to forgive and rebuild relationships are a part of a future waiting to be shared reunion by reunion. If I once thought that becoming wiser was the ability to make good decisions with deep insight, now I think it is more the ability to be grateful for all that life has had or will have to offer. I submit to you that these are the best of times. |

| I attended Summitview Elementary School and moved in the summer of 1964. I would have been in the graduating class of 1969 at WVHS and have lost all contact with my friends from Yakima. I was hoping that someone in this class could hook me up to whoever is in charge or active in planning, the class of 1969 reunions. I would appreciate any information. Thank you!! OK, I finally took a short break from all those important webmaster duties to cruise through the current "Classmates" pages... (Lots of very interesting stuff in there!) I'd like to propose a small informal (not too competitive) contest to see who can post the best combination of "then and now" photos on their bio.... AND I would strongly suggest that the current winner is.... STEVE HULL!!! (great job Steve!) Check it out, and see if you can compete with that. (Steve - please don't change those cool photos for a while!) So, should we have prizes, and/or maybe an official jury to decide winners??? |

Okaaay! Lets go! Bring on the grandkids! Is the rule that they must have a WV class of 67 grandparent in the photo with them? Steve, your photos are great. But judging from your 'then' photo I hope the grandkids take after BJ's side. |

OK, Gay, you are not on top any more but you are still the BEST. Thanks for all the hours you put into posting the reunion photos-so much fun to look at- and thanks for continuing to keep us all connected. And thanks to Lyle for this great website he created & continues to update. I often check to see if there are more bios or new photos. I like Karl's example of changing our photos and even updating our bios. my very best to all, Kathy Layman |

| I am enjoying your emails from Rick's office computer, but I can't respond to them on any computer other than the one at work. I truly am on vacation! My vacation has consisted of getting reunion pictures developed, placing reunion pictures on website (took 8 hours!), editing reunion pictures and re-editing reunion pictures. So even though you aren't receiving daily blogs, I am still working for you! Hang on, don't dismay......I will return! | |||

| I am not a West Valley grad, but have connections with many starting with Gay and going back to grade school where I met Herb Lynch, Ken Hilberry and Janie (Mary) Majnarich. I played pee wee baseball with Mark Porden and Ken Hilberry, met Steve Marble through his cousin Ken bumped into Andy Braff along the way and later went to Ike with Wide Hollow kids Peter Plath, Valerie Lynch, Madie Gustafson, Rick Mould and Greg Berryman. With Gay making me read every bio as they came on line I feel like I knew most of you before the reunion. Everyone made me feel right at home. West Valley put on a great party and I had a great time!! Thank you. | |||

Herb, are those the same saddle shoes you had in high school? I look forward to the reunion in 5 years...I will be there. Everyone on the committee...thank you for making this happen; the trip down memory lane via the pictures was delightful. Take care...Dianne

Can't wait. I'm so pleased to hear you voted to have the next reunion in five years. I will not miss the next one. Five years to see you all again will come quickly, don't blink as the song goes. | Today's the DAY!! Have fun, don't forget to sing WV's fight song and tip a few for all we graduates who cannot be with you. I'm reviewing my notes and PPs for my presentation and inwardly grumbling about the fun I'm missing. I"m amazed at all the graduates who live on the western side of the mountain; we should get together over here. Jesse's death is a reminder of how fragile and precisous our lives and those of our loved ones are. Blessings, and take care of yourselves and each other. Dianne Wisner

| Hey Karl, Thanks for the spelling correction! And, just so you and everyone else knows, once your bio is posted you can change it all you want without any involvement or action required by me. Also, check out Lynn Bolster's contribution to the Photo Albums page. Will be fun to create more albums on various topics (which, once established, can also be added to by anyone, without "big brother's" approval. Of course, if any inappropriate material gets posted, we'll have to "call in the gestapo," switch to 911 mode, and... so much for everyone's personal freedoms... ;-) | |||

| Yes Julie, I vote for summer next time too! Given the 'spur of the moment ambiance' of this one, I think we're doing fantastic! Next time (maybe in 5 years?, 2021!?) we'll most certainly be more organized and have ample notice. Here's a thought: What if all those, at that time, (financially) sucessful classmates, pool their resources and sponser a nice 1 or 2 week cruise for all to the Bahamas, etc.? Or perhaps a little space travel to the moon, if arrangements are available? Could be interesting! Something to think about ;-) Lyle E. | |||
